McKenzie Finally Sends Letter to Patients

This is the letter received by patients regarding services ending. It is dated April 10th but postmarked April 18th.

With the short notice given to the midwives themselves there is currently no plan for transfer of practice.

July 7th is the end date for postpartum care through McKenzie Midwives, but patients need to find other options if they are due after May 12th. These patients have hospital availability until May 26th. However, they are drawing a line based on due date. This is key because pregnancy can extend past the expected due date. Women currently under their care but due after May 12th need to find other care.

The number provided at the bottom of the letter is for the surgical specialties department and has nothing to do with midwives or maternal care.

Dear Valued Patient,

We are writing to inform you that after much consideration, McKenzie Midwives & Lactation Services will close its practice on July 7, 2023.

Continued care is important. Patients may continue with McKenzie Midwives until July 7. You may choose to stay with your current midwife over the next three months as they establish another location for their practice.

The choice is yours to where and with whom you transition your care; if you would like to find another provider with privileges at McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center please call Oregon Medical Group’s Center for Women’s Health at 541.686.7007 to make an appointment.

Thank you for trusting us with your care, and we regret this disruption. There are no changes to McKenzie-Willamette’s labor and delivery program.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at 541.345.2205.

Sincerely,
Robyn French
Office Manager
